The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a unique ten-digit alphanumeric code issued by the Income Tax Department to all taxpayers in India, under the Income Tax Act of 1961. The PAN is mentioned on a PAN card which is in the form of a laminated plastic card. It serves as a vital document and identity proof for all individuals and entities for carrying out any kind of financial transaction in India. It can be obtained through an online pan application facility implemented by the I-T Department or through TIN Facilitation Centres (TIN-FCs) for PAN related services.

Alankit Limited has 25 years of extensive experience in delivering government to citizen services, financial services, healthcare and insurance services through its network in over 673 cities and 6120 business locations. The company also facilitates the process to avail new PAN card and to apply pan card correction form online.

The need to make timely corrections in PAN card

PAN holders may sometimes require changes in their PAN details arising due to various reasons such as:

• Correction of error or change of applicant’s name on PAN card, due to spelling error, marriage, divorce, etc.

• Correction of error in father’s name of the PAN holder

• Change or correction in address details of the PAN holder

• Mismatch of signature of the PAN holder

• Correction in date of birth details of the PAN holder

• Printing error in PAN number

• If the applicant’s photo is unclear

It is crucial to ensure that the PAN details mentioned on the PAN card are correct and accurate. If corrections or changes are required, they should be done as early as possible to avoid delays in further documentation or processes based on PAN details.

The processing time for PAN card correction

After successful submission of the application forms at the PAN department, an acknowledgment slip is sent to applicants from Alankit. The company conducts follow-ups with PAN department on regular basis to ensure applicants are informed about the status. Initially, applicants would receive a message stating that the application is under process. After successful processing, they would receive a message stating that the application has been accepted and that the PAN card would be dispatched shortly. Usually, applicants also receive an SMS informing them about the date of delivery of the PAN card

Sometimes, due to unforeseen situations when there are a number of public holidays, the time taken for application processing might get delayed. It is therefore the responsibility of the applicant, if they are in urgent need of PAN card, to submit the pan card correction form online as early as possible.

Once the changes suggested by the applicants are updated in the PAN details, the PAN holders will receive their updated PAN cards with the latest information within 15 to 20 business days. There is an online option of tracking the application status which can be done simply by using the 15-digit unique acknowledgment number given to the applicants.

The Income Tax Department allows PAN holders, who are applying for PAN corrections, to raise any grievance concerning the process. Such complaints are received and addressed in a prompt manner and can be tracked by using the complaint number assigned to the applicants.
