Central Record Keeping Agency - Facilitation Centers

The Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority (PFRDA) appointed National Security Depository Limited (NSDL), is the Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA) for Central and State Government employees under the New Pension System (NPS) and Unorganized Sector employees. The CRA ensures operational efficiency of the NPS, interfacing between PFRDA and other NPS intermediaries. NSDL’s two CRA Facilitation Centers (CRA-FCs) provide services to Central and State Government and Unorganized Sector employees through various set-ups across the country.

Allotment applications for Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) are received from the DDO or PAO for Central and State Government employees who have joined services from April 2004 onwards.

The Government’s New Pension System (NPS) is a contributory monthly pension scheme where contributions are made by the Government and its employees. For the Unorganized Sector, applications are received through Point of Presence Service Providers (POP-SPs). The funds generated through NPS are invested by fund managers based on respective subscriber recommendations.

An employee of the central govt. (excluding armed forces) and central anonymous bodies, who joined service on or later than Jan 01, 2004 and is a part of the NPS scheme, is termed as a subscriber.
Subscribers require to submit duly filled applications for PRAN allotments, as per Annexure S1, to the DDO in duplicate. Only DDO subscribers, registered with the CRA, are entitled to apply for PRAN allotment. In case the DDO is not registered, it has to -be registered with the CRA.
Yes, it can reject an application form, either at the point of acceptance or during the digitization, in case any discrepancies are brought to notice by it. CRA-FC will issue a rejection memo with the reason for rejection. For these cases, a new application is to be submitted by the subscriber, after correcting the mentioned discrepancies.
